Katy is a highly experienced Solicitor. Since 2003, she’s worked across all areas of criminal law, handling everything from trials and bail applications to sentencing hearings. Whether supporting clients in a police station, Magistrates’ Court or Crown Court, she provides expert legal advice and representation at every stage of the criminal justice process. And no matter how complex the case, she takes pride in offering guidance that is practical, straightforward, and always compassionate.
Supporting clients every step of the way
“Communication is probably the key to pretty much everything I do. Many of my clients are unfamiliar with the legal system, so it’s important to explain what’s happening in straightforward terms they can understand. Whether I’m working with a young person or someone I’ve represented for years, I make sure they know they’re being listened to and supported.”
It’s a matter of trust
“My clients need someone they can trust quickly – and someone who gives them confidence. That means showing empathy, being approachable and explaining things in a way they can understand. Perhaps most of all, it’s about being honest – if the news is difficult to hear, I can’t sugar-coat it. So I explain things clearly from the beginning, so clients have a truthful understanding of what will happen. Then I keep them informed and reassured every step of the way.”
Pulling together as a team
“One of the greatest challenges in my role is time management! But at Sansbury Douglas, we work as a close-knit team. So if a case overruns or there’s a scheduling conflict, there’s always someone ready to step in and help. That teamwork ensures every client gets the attention they need, and no one is left without support.”
Making a difference
“For me, the most rewarding part of the job is hearing that I’ve made a tough experience more manageable. It’s not just about getting the best outcome; it’s about making the process as stress-free and supportive as possible. Knowing I’ve helped someone feel less overwhelmed and more in control makes it all worthwhile.”

“From the start you have been exemplary, both as a professional and in your understanding of my situation (including my parent’s ill health). I am fortunate to have met you and have you representing me in what has been a very difficult time for me and my family. I greatly appreciate your time and effort.”
