Putting clients at ease

“Our clients often come to us when they’re at their lowest ebb – so the last thing they need is for me to be judgmental. I believe it’s my job to be professional, but also guide them through the process with kindness and compassion. So I aim to always be friendly, approachable and supportive. I guess it’s really about trust and communication – that’s the foundation of a good working relationship.”

Getting a good result

“I find it incredibly rewarding to achieve the best possible result for a client. Whether that’s securing an acquittal at trial or ensuring a fair and appropriate sentence. That means asking the right questions. Maybe digging a little deeper and speaking to mental health services, psychologists or probation teams to understand the full picture and build the best case for my clients.”

Facing challenges head-on

“One of the hardest parts of my job is balancing the demands of a busy caseload while giving each client the time and care they deserve. I also see far too many people in the criminal justice system who are struggling with mental health issues. It’s frustrating to see gaps in the system, but it makes our work to support those individuals even more important.”

A strong and supportive team

“We’re lucky to have a wealth of experience at Sansbury Douglas. But I think what really sets us apart is how well we work as a team. There’s no rigid hierarchy – just an open-door policy where anyone can approach anyone else for advice. I think it’s that sense of collaboration that creates a better environment for staff and clients alike.”

Blue quote marks

“I can’t thank you enough. You’re truly amazing, and I will always be your number one fan.”
